Jennica Collado

1. Please Introduce yourself, what is your name, business name, where you are from?
I’m Jennica Collado, a Confidence + Visibility Coach from the Philippines.

2. What is your business about?
I work with introverted, intuitive women in business who are afraid to rise and show up in their businesses because they feel like frauds, they are worried about being accepted for who they are, they prefer to hide than to shine and be visible. I help them think better, see themselves as guides, be who they truly are un- apologetically, and be confidently visible.

3. What made you get into this line of business?
What made me get into this line of business is a decade of unconsciously working on myself as I move through life. In retrospect, every decision, twist, and turn I committed to led me to learn more about how to be more open and expansive. In the past several months, I deepened my inner work by working on a lifelong struggle with problematic eating. I was very resistant as I prefer to invest time, energy, and money on business coaching instead of therapy. But I trusted my intuition enough that I allowed myself to be led by it. After 4 sessions with my coach/therapist, looking at the mirror is mindblowing. What I previously saw as distortion and ugly is now beautiful, acceptable, and well… Thinner than I’ve ever seen myself. And mind you, I didn’t lose a single pound. That says a lot about the illusion we allow our minds to believe.

That experience, one that I’m continuously working on until now, has led me to see myself differently. So different that it uncovered the light and confidence that I innately knew is already in me. And yes, all these self love, self worth, and certainty led me to leave a business of pure strategy to one of healing and transformation. That’s how my confidence and visibility coaching business was born.

4. What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?
Ooh yes, I love morning routines! It is an evolving set of activities for me but one that’s structured enough for me to commit to it but flexible enough for me to not beat myself up if each activity isn’t done perfectly. I start the day by enjoying my comfy bed and placing my hand on my chest, feeling so much gratitude for where I am and where I’m going. I then prepare my celery juice, bring it to the balcony for some wealth consciousness reading (currently reading “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill). Since my apartment is near the pool where my neighbors’ kids play in the morning, I go back inside to peacefully journal my morning thoughts. After elevating my vibe, I prepare a cup of tea and grab my yoga mat for yoga with YogaGlo.

5. What is the best advice you have ever been given?
“Whatever you do or say is filtered through the lens of others’ experiences. What they say about you is about them.” I saw this on Instagram at the perfect moment and thinking about it every time I need to has helped me stay on my own lane, shine my light, and live unapologetically.

6. What is a book you would say everyone must read?
“The Law of Divine Compensation” by Marianne Williamson.

7. Does your business have any offers on at present or coming up?
Yes! I am currently offering a program to jumpstart 2019! It’s a 30-day private coaching program with me where you would walk away with activated of ease, expansion, and confidence with online visibility. This includes mindset work using the cognitive behavioral approach, bespoke strategies on social media, email list building, and content creation, optimization of Facebook and Instagram accounts, and strong support through weekly 60-minute calls and unlimited Voxer support.

If you book a slot by December 31st, this will be USD500. Then the price goes up once we hit 2019. If this resonates with you, feel into the energy… We’re meant to work together.

8. What one thing do you do to change your mindset instantly?
Play with my hamsters. Being with nature and creatures as cute as my hammies instantly change my focus and elevate my vibe, making it easier to choose better feeling thoughts.

9. What do you love most about helping others?
What I love the most about helping others is it fulfills my soul purpose. I believe I’m here to guide and teach people, and live my life as a positive example for them.

Samantha Charles

  1. Please introduce yourself, what is your name, business name, where you are from?

Hi! I’m Samantha Charles, everyone calls me Sam. I’m a 30 year old single parent of two toddlers and proud owner of an online store – Trending Gifts and Things. I am from the Caribbean -Georgetown, Guyana and my passion is to inspire people in any way I can!

  1. What is your business about?

We also have a satisfaction guarantee policy and on board customer service team. We are passionate about customer service and offering value for money hence we are always looking for ways to improve what we do and offer the best we possibly can to each and every one of our valued customer!

3.What made you get into this line of business?

My number one motivation was and still is my kids. The desire to spend more time with them, working with a flexible schedule and being able to be take better control of my finances were all contributing factors to my decision to open my own store. In addition, that desire to inspire others, more specifically mothers and female entrepreneurs such as myself, to be overcomers for any situation life throws at them. My business allows me to be true to myself and fulfil my vision of a society of strong, independent women. We even have a closed FB group called Strong, Independent Women that further allows me to fulfil this passion. Having experienced personal difficulties of my own I have a deep understanding and appreciation for the little sentimental things in life and how important it is to surround yourself with inspiration and positivity. Happier women will ultimately result in happier homes, happier families and a happier society! And it all starts with one girl, one woman, one lady at a time.

4. What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

The realisation that my cause is bigger than my current situation. My life, my purpose, my time here is so much grander than what my external factors denotes at the moment. Hence, the constant need to keep on thriving to do more, reach more women, inspire more lives whether on my good days and bad is ever present.  I’m a typical mom hence early morning routines entails getting my morning hugs from the kids before we come off the bed and then it’s all crazy trying to send them off to school…lol. However, after they’re off to school I do take some alone time to recharge and mentally prepare for the rest of the day. This sometimes include looking at atleast one motivational, inspirational video, listening to empowering music or affirmations. It’s never the same thing everyday …lol.

5. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

To limit my expectations of others. It’s not what people do to us that hurts us but rather our expectations of them that does. If we can manage our expectations we can manage how we react when faced with disappointments, rejection, desertion, deception, etc. It was the absolute best advice I ever got!

  1. What is a book you would say everyone must read?

Act like a lady, think like a man by Steve Harvey

  1. Does your business have any offers on at present or coming up?

Promotions and offers are always ongoing at our store. Our business is still new however our objective it to have at least two promotions monthly. Hence we will always have something exciting happening.

  1. What one thing do you do to change your mindset instantly?

Take a time out! Lol … It doesn’t have to be a long time out (depending on the situation). Sometimes just 10 minutes of quiet time to breathe, clear my mind and release any negative energy is all it takes to get back in the game and win!

  1. What do you love most about helping others?

Knowing that this gift of life that was given to me was not wasted and if I made just one person … just one… feel good about themselves during the day then I would have added value to my existence for that day. Doing good, being kind, sharing positive vibes always has a ripple effect and a good one. It’s like music while some are closer to the stereo and can hear the words some might be able to just hear the beat in a distance but dance all the same.

  1. Your favourite quote?

My mom, an advocate of integrity and hard work, made me memorise this one when I was a kid and it never left me:

“The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they, while their companions slept, were toiling upward in the night.” – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Leanne Macdonald

  1. Please Introduce yourself, what is your name, business name, where you are from?

My name is Leanne and I am a mum of four living in rural Northumberland.

As an emotional health and well being coach and founder of the Happy Mama Movement; I am an advocate for supporting mums and their children live a happy and balanced life.

  1. What is your business about?

I help parents create calm in the home and get back to enjoying parenting and move on from focusing on the daily stresses of parenthood, I work 121 with mums who feel stuck and who are struggling to get the emotional balance in life and I also work with teens and children to support their understanding of their emotions and the connection to their thoughts and to realise the power they have inside of them to navigate smoothly through life……. and breath! ha

48361928_412324066264289_4852726734199455744_n

  1. What made you get into this line of business?

I basically found myself at an all time low, struggling to find joy in parenting, struggling to find joy in life and dealing with my husband who at the time was facing some issues with his own mental health all while running my own business and having four kids.

I woke up one day and realised there was more to life and set off to find it and in doing so I felt inspired to help anyone who has ever felt like I used to.

I was also inspired to work with children as my husbands mental health issues plus my lack of lustre for life had a knock on effect in my children’s life – which I am so happy to have turned around.

  1. What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

I get up in the morning because I love my life. I love my home, I love my work, I love my family and I have finally found my inner joy.

My morning routine consists of mentally noting my appreciation and gratitude for everything in my life and the things to come, I take 10 full in breaths and full out breaths and I pull a card from my keepers of the light deck for guidance…. Then I have ten gallons of coffee

48377745_355897918555620_3840563797647425536_n

  1. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

I tend to listen to my own intuition and rarely seek advice from others so this is a hard question to answer, I suppose an ex boss once said to me that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and my interpretation of that was that nothing in life is worth loosing your inner peace over, you can also find a solution when you tackle a problem with love and understanding.

  1. What is a book you would say everyone must read?

F**k It Therapy

  1. Does your business have any offers on at present or coming up?

I am opening up my mama and me positive living academy for enrolments. The academy focuses on the whole picture, mums mindset and emotional balance, parenting and supporting your child with their emotional needs. Its a six week academy with weekly training, activities, guidance and support – and by the end of the course you will have a new, clear and peaceful approach to parenting and life and you will be able to support your children to achieve the same.I love this academy, I have poured my heart and soul into it, I focused on how I felt in the past, my children have given their input and I have worked with lots of mums as guinea pigs  to fine tune the content and its amazing!

  1. What one thing do you do to change your mindset instantly?

Breath work, it instantly changes your emotional state. Full in breath and full out breath.

  1. What do you love most about helping others?

The moment I see a light bulb go off and my clients whole body language changes, like they have just found their own joy – I love that.

  1. Your favourite quote?

My favourite quote is – ‘All we are is pure joy, peace and wisdom with the power to create the illusion we are not’

Karin Houston

  1. Please Introduce yourself, what is your name, business name, where you are from?

My name is Karin, I’m from Fife in Bonnie Scotland (once you get past the rain and 6 days of sunshine a year…..it is kind of Bonnie). I am a mum to 6 and the CEO, cleaner, skivvy and boss lady of Beauty Bath Junkie.

2. What is your business about?

I make Bath Bombs mostly, but am venturing into new territory with soaps and other pamper products in the New Year. I started 3 years ago with a £50 investment (after the tax man very kindly gave me a refund). I started to sell online bath bombs sourced from suppliers, and after a few weeks friends approached me asking if they could sell them too. It kind of went from there – in year two after a series of let downs and bad quality from suppliers I decided I could do better and I got myself on the journey to making my own bath bombs. I now have well over 100 cosmetic safety assessments and hand paint a lot of our products, which sell all over the UK via a network of brand reps.

3. What made you get into this line of business?

I believe the universe was responsible for this……I was a police officer and I guess my career was mapped out…..13 years service and pension forecast sorted, but a series of events in 2014 /2015 conspired to knock me for 6. In 2015 after a particularly bad week, I had a breakdown at work…..a complete “omg look at the snotters running from her nose” scenario as I sobbed uncontrollably for an hour.

I left that day and never went back. From being a confident, healthy police officer, I turned into a hairy hermit who suffered severe anxiety attacks in a daily basis. I left the house only to go to the Docs and counselling. I became smelly, unkempt and exhausted and I really didn’t know how to pull myself out of it. A year later, I was online when it suddenly hit me that working online was the way to go. I had done some network marketing prior to this as a sideline but I needed a job – a job that didn’t require me to get out of PJs or leave the house. I look back now at “snottergate” and realise how far I have come, and I actually don’t have to plait armpit hair and actually get dressed every day now!

4. What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

Passion of creating makes me get up (and 2 twin terrorists who can’t be in the same room without arguing). I work every day and even when I decide to take a day off, I’m on my phone with our brand reps or wholesale customers so I’m never really off duty. I start the day with a coffee, check emails and messages and try to listen to a you tube video that is motivational or inspiring. Les brown is an absolute favourite.

5. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

Really two pieces of advice that go hand in hand – the first being – you can’t please everyone. In the early days I tried to……I was running about like a headless chicken trying to make everyone happy and then one day it hit me……..some people will never be happy no matter what you do. Once I had accepted that, it became a lot easier. The second piece of advice is – celebrate the positive and forget the negative. What a game changer!! I choose to dwell on successes, happy times and positive…….when I get a “blip” in that run, I learn from it and literally package it up and throw it away.

48391665_583695568741061_4687369080259215360_n

5. What is a book you would say everyone must read?

Wow so many helped me on my journey to recovery but i love audio books and one I listened to so so many times was “you are a badass”.

6. Does your business have any offers on at present or coming up?

Our brand reps have always got offers on on products or hampers and we have a free sign up on January 6 for people looking to join us.

7. What one thing do you do to change your mindset instantly?

Music – it has to be cranked up and you HAVE to sing along and / or dance! I have a voice like a strangled moggy but I still love singing.

8. What do you love most about helping others?

It is the best feeling EVER! It’s like a smooth, creamy, hot chocolate with marshmallows for the soul.

10. Your favourite quote?

“if you say you can or can’t – you are right”. It sums it right up. YOU are responsible for the outcome.

Michelle Blake

  1. Please Introduce yourself, what is your name, business name, where you are from?

Hi, my name is Michelle Blake. I own Making you Look Beautiful and I’m based in Bromley in Kent.

2. What is your business about?

My business is all about empowering women to feel confident about the way that they look.

image1

3. What made you get into this line of business?

I was introduced to this amazing opportunity back in April 2017 and I jumped at the chance of joining other women to become a UK founder. I’ve always loved wearing makeup anyway, but being trained as a colour assessment advisor was something that other companies don’t offer.

4. What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

My WHY POWER makes me get up and go in the mornings. I want to have time freedom and financial freedom to do what I want, whenever I want. Everyday I wake up at 5am and do my personal development (listening to an instructional cd or watching a training video). This helps to ensure that each day starts in the best possible way.

image2

5. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

The best advice I have ever been given is ‘don’t compare yourself to anyone else” we are all on a different journey.

6. What is a book you would say everyone must read?

A book everyone must read… I have two: ‘The compound effect’ and ‘Get over your damn self’

7. Does your business have any offers on at present or coming up?

At the moment there are Christmas offers taking place weekly, called the twelve weeks of Christmas.

8. What one thing do you do to change your mindset instantly?

I use affirmations to empower myself and to encourage a positive mindset. I also create positive posts to uplift others and by doing so, I uplift myself.

9. What do you love most about helping others?

I love the feeling of giving to others. I feel that by helping others, I’m sharing a bit of myself.  My grandad  was known as ‘Brother Help’ because of how he treated others and I think he may have passed some of this attribute to me.

10. Your favourite quote?

My all time favourite quote is ‘don’t let anyone dull your sparkle!’ No matter how I feel I make sure that I continue to shine.

Thank you so much Michelle for sharing your business and story with us if you would like to see more from Michelle please go to FacebookInstagramFacebook Profile or Website

Ellie Jackson

  1. Please Introduce yourself, what is your name, business name, where you are from?

My name is Ellie Jackson and I am a children’s author, beach cleaner, environmental campaigner and mother of four young children. I write children’s books for primary and preschool children about the problem of ocean plastic and inspire them to get involved in helping their communities to tackle the issue.

2.What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

As a mother of 4 little ones, I am still in the throes of early morning starts yet as a self-employed mumpreneur I am up often up working late. This naturally leaves me with several challenges – mainly lack of sleep, chaotic routine and stressful mornings. My children have adapted beautifully to this way of life, mainly because it suits them to ignore everything I ask and leave everything until the last minute at which point I am glad for the peace and quiet when they are finally off to pre-school and school. This is the time where I can get most of my creative work done and I relish the empty house to focus on my work.

Children Library (1)

3.What made you get into this line of business?

I have always had a strong love for nature and the environment, studying Environmental Science at University and then going on to teach Geography at secondary school. It is only recently however after writing my true books on ocean plastic, that I have developed my passion for campaigning and raising awareness amongst others.

4.Your favourite quote?

It is a famous quote “Do what you love and  you will never work another day in your life” that has finally found resonance with me after many years of battling in jobs I have not been truly inspired by. The books have brought all of my interests into one place as I am combining education, nature and children into one and I now have such strong motivation to see these reach as many children as possible.

A lot of my time is spent visiting schools and delivering free assemblies – I have spoken to over 10,000 children in the last year, doing a book reading and follow up discussion. There is nothing more fantastic for me to see than a whole hall full of 450 children all cheering for paper straws and beach cleans. I firmly believe that our best chance in helping save our planet from the many environmental challenges we are facing is to educate our children and therefore I would recommend everyone to use these books to teach and encourage the next generation before it is too late.

5. Does your business have any offers on at present or coming up?

I have just released my third book, Nelson’s Dangerous Dive about a humpback whale who gets trapped in ghost fishing nets and this now completes my set of three books on ocean plastic. I have three more exciting and true stories which will be released in 2019 where the focus will shift to consider the issues of palm oil, pesticide use and climate change.

6. What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

I am incredibly lucky to live by the sea in beautiful Cornwall where there are so many people in the beach cleaning and conservation community that by surrounding myself with these local heroes I find amazing inspiration for the books and to reach out into primary and preschools. If I am ever feeling like a change in direction or if I need a break I head out into nature for a walk either on the beach or along the river, usually ending up picking up plastic along the way.

Ellie & Audrey (1)

7. What do you love most about helping others?

The knowledge that I can do something to help tackle the issue, even if it is just a few pieces of rubbish, helps me to focus on what is important and reminds me that our individual actions can collectively make a difference. I love the quote “A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step” or as I like to say “To clean the ocean of plastic starts with picking up just a single piece.”

Thank you so much for sharing your amazing business with us Ellie I can not wait to see what 2019 brings for you.

Emma Bowyer

  1. Please Introduce yourself, what is your name, business name, where you are from?

Hi I’m Emma and I’m from Cheshire but now live on Waiheke Island just off the coast of mainland Auckland New Zealand. I have been here 14 years and love it. I have 3 beautiful children Mr I’m a Ninja 7 and 3-year-old twinadoes.

I am a copywriter Emma Bowyer-The Word Whisperer NZ and am working on developing my own writing and blogging into my full time business. I have had a couple of articles published this year  and  launched my blog  Don’t Put Peas Up Your Nose written from the point of view of my twins all about the things they do and the silly big people getting in their way.

  1. What is your business about?

Writing a funny and light hearted blog that will make other mums roll their eyes in recognition and laugh snort at some of the crazy antics the twinadoes and their brother get up to. Occasionally I’m allowed to chip in but that’s not that often usually I’m just a figure to be ridiculed or escaped from.

20180511_123033.jpg

  1. What made you get into this line of business?

I regularly perform comedy and improvisation, with the occasional bit of stand up thrown in. When my kids came on the scene I couldn’t stop talking about them and realised they were comedy gold after telling a few stories friends about their antics like when my 9 month old daughter threw herself out of her cot to escape the tedium of nap time and gave herself a black eye, and they told me I should write that stuff down, so now I do.

  1. What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

I get up as soon as my alarm threatens to ring and slide out of bed like a SAS sniper to get to the bathroom and into the shower before my twinadoes realise it’s morning and start screaming for me and if I don’t move quickly enough tearing their room to pieces. Then if I’m really winning I have time to make a quick cup of decaf tea (I know I’m a saint)  lol. Before the morning wars begin.

20180216_200206

  1. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

To ask myself when I’m stressed and at freak out point (so that’s about 23 times a day). Will this matter  in 5 years or even 5 months time? Will I even remember it? And if not to ‘Let it Go! Let it Go!’

  1. What is a book you would say everyone must read?

For all pregnant Mummas I’d say you have to read  Up the Duff: The real guide to pregnancy it is hilarious and full of fun facts by Kaz Cooke

For twin Mummas the incredibly useful book

‘What to do when you’re having two’ by Natalie Diaz

20181031_162139(0).jpg

  1. Does your business have any offers on at present or coming up?

If you subscribe to my Don’t Put Peas Up Your Nose list I’ll be your best friend forever and promise never to share your secret ‘Mum guilts’ with anyone else. Unless you ask me to and then I’ll drink tea and eat chocolate with you till you feel better.

  1. What one thing do you do to change your mindset instantly?

I stop and breathe and think how incredibly blessed I am to have my  three wonderful kids. Unless it’s because of them driving me mad that I need a mindset change, then it’s ‘thank God I’ve got my secret stash of chocolate hidden in the cupboard’.

  1. What do you love most about helping others?

Seeing people smile. That’s why I write my blog to help other twin mums that might feel isolated and alone. If I can help them see that yes it is a really hard job being a twin Mama but it’s also the best club in the world to belong to. And that the funny side is always there, you just have to recognise it. Even if your 3-year-old twin daughter is caught hanging out of her bedroom window instead of napping and you have to call the fire brigade. True story. I can laugh now.

  1. Your favourite quote?

‘Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you’re gonna get’. Forrest Gump And in my case that was after multiple IVF treatments finding out I was having twins! Shocked? I couldn’t speak for about 2 hours and for me that’s saying something.

Thanks Emma for sharing your business and story with us if you would like to see more from Emma please go to Wordwhisperer Website or Her Blog

Stacey Matthews

  1. Please Introduce yourself, what is your name, business name, where you are from?

Hey I’m Stacey I am 28, wife to Dan a lorry driver and mum to 4 beautiful boys, lover of Cake and a good cuppa and a self-confessed journaling addict from Shropshire UK.

And my business is called Becoming Mum.

  1. What is your business about?

Becoming Mum is a platform for mum’s to come together on their own unique motherhood journeys to support encourage and empower each other to recreate and embrace the U in Mum. I use personal development, mindset and positive relationship coaching to help women rediscover who they are again after becoming mum’s.

  1. What made you get into this line of business?

After becoming a mum I felt a huge loss of identity and was completely overwhelmed by everything that comes with being a mum, wife and running a household. I had quit my job to be a stay at home mum and felt like a failure. I knew I wanted to be more than just a mum and this riddled me with guilt because being a mum is the most amazing thing in the world, so why would I need to be anything more?

I delved into the world of personal development and quickly realised that if I wanted things to change in my life, I was the first thing that needed to change and so went through a process of personal growth and development to rediscover who I was behind my mum title. I retrained in personal development and positive relationship coaching and made it my mission to support all of the mum’s out there that are feeling just like I felt and so Becoming Mum was created!

  1. What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

Other than my 4 little sleep stealers hehe, the calling of my kettle…truth be told, I am not really a morning person. my power routine is to just get up as soon as the alarm goes off or the kids come in, get up, put some happy music on, make a coffee and get on with the start of the day don’t snooze the alarm or send the kids back to bed just get up and go!

  1. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

Don’t compare yourself, it’s a pretty simple concept but it’s so important especially on social media  because you only see the highlight reel you don’t see what’s going on behind the camera.

  1. What is a book you would say everyone must read?

Girl wash your face by Rachel Hollis or You are a badass by Jen Sincero both really good inspirational and motivational reads.

  1. What one thing do you do to change your mindset instantly?

I stop, breathe and think of things that I am grateful for in that moment. Gratitude or remembering how blessed I am to be where I am at that time instantly grounds me and gives me the kick up the bum to reframe my thinking.

  1. What do you love most about helping others?

I LOVE seeing women empowered and confident. Knowing that when they connect and nurture the relationship they have with themselves they can build stronger connections and nurture more positive relationships with those they love.

Happy Mums make Happy Children and a Happy Wife is a Happy Life hehe!

  1. Your favourite quote?

Oh gosh there are so many but right now Id say

Not until we are lost, do we begin to understand ourselves by Henry David Thoreau

Katie Silverthorne

  1. Please Introduce yourself, what is your name, business name, where you are from?

I’m Katie Silverthorne. I was born in London but I now live in Portishead, just outside Bristol – which I ADORE. My business is Memory Zoo.

2.What is your business about?

At Memory Zoo we make keepsakes for people from their precious clothing to help then remember a special person, event or time in their lives.

3. What made you get into this line of business?

I started the business entirely by accident. I made a keepsake bear for my daughter when she was about 1 as I couldn’t bear to put all her beautiful baby clothes into the attic and never see them again. I wanted a more visual reminder of her baby years so used her clothes to make a bear. I put pictures of her bear onto Facebook for my friends to see and very quickly people started asking the question, ‘Can you make me one?’ And Memory Zoo was born.

4.What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

Eggs! I get up and eat three scrambled eggs for breakfast. Everyday without fail. I don’t have a more complex routine than that! Although after I drop my daughter at school I usually go for a run (health permitting) – even just a few km – which really gets my blood moving, brain functioning, stress out of my system and my whole being ready to work. I am a little grumpy if I miss my run!

5. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

I have two things that have always resonated with me. The first is, ‘People massively overestimate what they can achieve in a year but massively underestimate what they can achieve in a decade.’ This helps me to remember that everything doesn’t have to happen right now this minute! And working towards a big goal does take years. There’s no such thing as an overnight success. Everything that we have ever done and every decision we have ever made have led us to this point in time. I aim not to waste a single moment of my life and my learning.
My second one is the acronym – F.A.I.L. – First Attempt In Learning. I LOVE this and hold it dear to me when my crazy ideas don’t work out or take root the first time. I put them down, refresh the vision and try again. Everything is about learning. I aim to be a better person tomorrow than I am today. When I am lying on my death-bed I do not want to look back and think, ‘I wish I had been braver.’

6.What is a book you would say everyone must read?

I have so many books that I love! Can I have more than one please?! ‘Sapiens’ by Yuval Noah Haraji; ‘Real Artists Don’t Starve’ by Jeff Goins and ‘Still Live With Woodpecker’ by Tom Robbins. The last one is one of my favourite books of all time and was given to me by a complete stranger on a train when I was 17. I should also mention ‘Pyramids’ by Terry Pratchett. This was the first book that I actually chose myself (wasn’t told to read by an adult) and I laughed so hard I cried. I realised in the moment of reading it that I would have a life long love affair with books, writing and words.

7.Does your business have any offers on at present or coming up?

I don’t have any offers but I will be releasing some new products very soon so keep your eyes peeled to see what they are. I don’t ever discount my Memory Zoo keepsakes as each one is a bespoke, hand-made item and people have to join a waiting list to get them. The waiting list is currently 7 months long and growing constantly! I do offer a £5 discount though to everyone who orders two animals at the same time. There is also no waiting list if you would like to have something made in honour of someone who has passed away. I understand how instrumental the keepsakes can be for dealing with grief and it’s unrealistic to make people who are suffering emotionally to wait such a long time for their keepsake.

8. What one thing do you do to change your mindset instantly?

RUN! That is my go to. If I can’t do that then I listen to motivating songs, take the dog for a walk, do some jumping jacks or stand in front of the mirror and give myself a motivational speech! Really! 😀 Sometimes I feel that I need to have a gentler word with myself and in those moments I shower myself with loving words. I allow all pain, grief and illness to pass away from me whilst I bask in the feelings of self acceptance and love. I am also deeply keen on personal affirmations.

9. What do you love most about helping others?

It’s such a honour to have been trusted to make so many hundreds of keepsakes over the years for so many people, in many different situations. Many of those people are having a keepsake made because they have lost someone dear to them and the clothes they are giving me are the last reminders of that person. It’s a joy to be able to help people process their grief and loss through my skills.

10. Your favourite quote?

‘When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on.’ Franklin D. Roosevelt
