Jo Fitzgerald

Please Introduce yourself, what is your name, business name, where you are from?

I’m Jo Fitzgerald, I’m originally from Kent, I lived and worked in the Middle East for 17 years – where I brought up my two gorgeous children, Sam and Anya. We now live in West Sussex, where I am blessed to be the MIBA Coordinator.

 What is your business about?

My company is Tiny Sponges. I have always been a teacher, in very many roles. I have been a Deputy Head in a Pupil Referral Unit, I ran a Nursery in Muscat, Oman for The British Council but my real passion is Early Years. I started Tiny Sponges two years ago, I wanted to help parents teach their children wellbeing and resilience skills. Mental Health is hugely important to me, I have lost close family members to suicide, my mum was an alcoholic and I have Bipolar Type 2 – and was recently treated for PTSD. Quite a mixed bag!! I have seen first hand, how more children have anxiety issues and mental health conditions, and how little help there is out there for them and their families. I believe that, if we teach our children well-being and resilience skills from an early age, they are better equipped to cope with life’s obstacles.

What made you get into this line of business?

I have written two children’s books, one of which is now in schools across West Sussex, along with a Scheme Of Work for teachers to teach Mental health and safeguarding to their pupils. We have also been in collaboration with a leading Danish educationalist, and are now the sole distributor of her resources in the UK and Ireland. These positive mindset resources are used in schools and families across Denmark, and have had amazing results with both wellbeing and learning outcomes. We are exhibiting at The Education Show in London this year, and our aim is to get all of our resources into as many schools as possible in the coming year. I also have two more books ready for publication, and am collaborating with a couple of other people on two more. I write a Blog, published by the Pre-school Learning Alliance and Early Years Matters. I speak at conferences on Child Safeguarding and Mental Health. Our online courses go live this year. The huge Childcare insurance company Morton Michel have bought my ‘How To Keep Safe … in a sometimes crazy world’ book in bulk, and are about to start selling it on their website … things are on the up!

What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

My morning routine consists of a walk with the dogs, a green juice and straight into the office (at home). My ‘to-do’ list gets me up in the morning! The best advice that I have recently been given is from Leona Burton, CEO of the ‘Mums In Business Association’ who recently spoke at one of our West Sussex meeting. One of her golden nuggets of advice was to block your time every day in your planner – and stick to it – i.e. one hour for social media, one hour for emails, one hour for writing … I often compare myself to the dog in the film ‘Up’, constantly distracted by “squirrel” “squirrel.” I really need the discipline of blocking time!

_mg_3944

What is a book you would say everyone must read?

One of the resources that we have brought over from Denmark is about strengths of character – and how they help with our general well-being and quality of life. I would really recommend reading the ‘Mumprenuer On Fire’ series of books (especially MOF 4, as I am one of the co-authors). My reason is this – women in business are all on a similar journey, we all know how difficult it can be to juggle business, family and life, the stress and the worry is regular and familiar. In these books the stories of women battling through huge adversity, HUGE adversity, are a real lesson and can teach us a lot about ourselves. We all have strengths – bravery, perseverance, grit, gratitude … and we should recognise them in ourselves and use them. We need to have a realistic and positive love for ourselves and our strengths, instead of focussing on our weaknesses – what we don’t know or don’t have, and berating ourselves.

img_4654

What One thing do you do to change your mindset instantly?

The one thing I do to change my mindset in an instant, is to practice gratitude. I have so very much to be grateful for in my life. I am blessed.

What do you love most about helping others?

Two of my top strengths are kindness and social intelligence. I love going into schools, and seeing how my books make a difference. The feedback I get is gratifying and quite wonderful – it feeds my soul! I get a huge buzz from my work as a MIBA coordinator too. Watching people on their journey, meeting them, supporting them, getting them help – watching collaborations and friendships form. I use my strengths to help make a difference – and the Universe always responds by sending great things my way, and placing them in my lap!!

Your favourite quote?

My favourite quote, though I have so many, is by Dr Seuss – it’s what my teaching is all about:

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”

Emma Ward

  1. Please Introduce yourself, what is your name, business name, where you are from?

I’m Emma Ward and I’m a Business Confidence Coach. I’m based in Berkshire and expecting my first child in May.

2. What is your business about?

I coach women who are either running a business, or want to, to have the confidence and next-steps-knowledge to put themselves out there so they can get paid to do what they really love.

I do this through online self-study courses, group programs and 1:1 sessions.

50283528_367445797365650_2210010486269804544_n

  1. What made you get into this line of business?

I started my own business back in 2008 having given up teaching full-time due to a crippling illness. I started as a Personal Stylist and as I regained my health and spent more and more time helping women wear clothes that reflect who they are as an individual, I realised that I was doing a lot of coaching. I trained to be a Confidence Coach in 2012 and it wasn’t long before I was attracting other female business owners who not only wanted help increasing their confidence but wanted advice on marketing themselves.

I know what it’s like to spend your weekdays working tirelessly on something that doesn’t light you up. I want to help women to get paid to do what they love so they can make the difference in the world that they really crave.

  1. What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

Yes, I do have a routine. I do mindset work as soon as I wake up. I say my affirmations and visualise my dreams as a reality. Mindset work has changed my life and I love teaching it to others so I ensure I walk my talk. I really notice when I haven’t done it.

  1. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

Believe in yourself and your halfway there.

I think you’re more than halfway there! Without self-belief you are left with self-doubt and that slows everything down and leads to (from my own experience) a mediocre life.

  1. What is a book you would say everyone must read?

The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson.

  1. Does your business have any offers on at present or coming up?

Yes, I have some offers on right now.

I have a 7-day Vision Board Mastery course for just £20.19. I’ve used vision boards to help me manifest countless things including: my home, my partner, my car, my business, holidays and much more. Anyone can make a vision board but not everyone knows how to create one that really works.

I also have 4 Business Bundles on offer, helping you to identify your Ideal Client; know what to include on your website; how to write effective sales pages; how to brand your personality and how to develop a success mindset.

48361928_412324066264289_4852726734199455744_n

  1. What made you get into this line of business?

I basically found myself at an all time low, struggling to find joy in parenting, struggling to find joy in life and dealing with my husband who at the time was facing some issues with his own mental health all while running my own business and having four kids.

I woke up one day and realised there was more to life and set off to find it and in doing so I felt inspired to help anyone who has ever felt like I used to.

I was also inspired to work with children as my husbands mental health issues plus my lack of lustre for life had a knock on effect in my children’s life – which I am so happy to have turned around.

  1. What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

I get up in the morning because I love my life. I love my home, I love my work, I love my family and I have finally found my inner joy.

My morning routine consists of mentally noting my appreciation and gratitude for everything in my life and the things to come, I take 10 full in breaths and full out breaths and I pull a card from my keepers of the light deck for guidance…. Then I have ten gallons of coffee

48377745_355897918555620_3840563797647425536_n

  1. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

I tend to listen to my own intuition and rarely seek advice from others so this is a hard question to answer, I suppose an ex boss once said to me that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and my interpretation of that was that nothing in life is worth loosing your inner peace over, you can also find a solution when you tackle a problem with love and understanding.

  1. What is a book you would say everyone must read?

F**k It Therapy

  1. Does your business have any offers on at present or coming up?

I am opening up my mama and me positive living academy for enrolments. The academy focuses on the whole picture, mums mindset and emotional balance, parenting and supporting your child with their emotional needs. Its a six week academy with weekly training, activities, guidance and support – and by the end of the course you will have a new, clear and peaceful approach to parenting and life and you will be able to support your children to achieve the same.I love this academy, I have poured my heart and soul into it, I focused on how I felt in the past, my children have given their input and I have worked with lots of mums as guinea pigs  to fine tune the content and its amazing!

  1. What one thing do you do to change your mindset instantly?

Breath work, it instantly changes your emotional state. Full in breath and full out breath.

  1. What do you love most about helping others?

The moment I see a light bulb go off and my clients whole body language changes, like they have just found their own joy – I love that.

  1. Your favourite quote?

My favourite quote is – ‘All we are is pure joy, peace and wisdom with the power to create the illusion we are not’

image1

3. What made you get into this line of business?

I was introduced to this amazing opportunity back in April 2017 and I jumped at the chance of joining other women to become a UK founder. I’ve always loved wearing makeup anyway, but being trained as a colour assessment advisor was something that other companies don’t offer.

4. What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

My WHY POWER makes me get up and go in the mornings. I want to have time freedom and financial freedom to do what I want, whenever I want. Everyday I wake up at 5am and do my personal development (listening to an instructional cd or watching a training video). This helps to ensure that each day starts in the best possible way.

5. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

The best advice I have ever been given is ‘don’t compare yourself to anyone else” we are all on a different journey.

6. What is a book you would say everyone must read?

A book everyone must read… I have two: ‘The compound effect’ and ‘Get over your damn self’

7. Does your business have any offers on at present or coming up?

At the moment there are Christmas offers taking place weekly, called the twelve weeks of Christmas.

8. What one thing do you do to change your mindset instantly?

I use affirmations to empower myself and to encourage a positive mindset. I also create positive posts to uplift others and by doing so, I uplift myself.

9. What do you love most about helping others?

I love the feeling of giving to others. I feel that by helping others, I’m sharing a bit of myself.  My grandad  was known as ‘Brother Help’ because of how he treated others and I think he may have passed some of this attribute to me.

10. Your favourite quote?

My all time favourite quote is ‘don’t let anyone dull your sparkle!’ No matter how I feel I make sure that I continue to shine.

Emma Bowyer

  1. Please Introduce yourself, what is your name, business name, where you are from?

Hi I’m Emma and I’m from Cheshire but now live on Waiheke Island just off the coast of mainland Auckland New Zealand. I have been here 14 years and love it. I have 3 beautiful children Mr I’m a Ninja 7 and 3-year-old twinadoes.

I am a copywriter Emma Bowyer-The Word Whisperer NZ and am working on developing my own writing and blogging into my full time business. I have had a couple of articles published this year  and  launched my blog  Don’t Put Peas Up Your Nose written from the point of view of my twins all about the things they do and the silly big people getting in their way.

  1. What is your business about?

Writing a funny and light hearted blog that will make other mums roll their eyes in recognition and laugh snort at some of the crazy antics the twinadoes and their brother get up to. Occasionally I’m allowed to chip in but that’s not that often usually I’m just a figure to be ridiculed or escaped from.

20180511_123033.jpg

  1. What made you get into this line of business?

I regularly perform comedy and improvisation, with the occasional bit of stand up thrown in. When my kids came on the scene I couldn’t stop talking about them and realised they were comedy gold after telling a few stories friends about their antics like when my 9 month old daughter threw herself out of her cot to escape the tedium of nap time and gave herself a black eye, and they told me I should write that stuff down, so now I do.

  1. What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

I get up as soon as my alarm threatens to ring and slide out of bed like a SAS sniper to get to the bathroom and into the shower before my twinadoes realise it’s morning and start screaming for me and if I don’t move quickly enough tearing their room to pieces. Then if I’m really winning I have time to make a quick cup of decaf tea (I know I’m a saint)  lol. Before the morning wars begin.

20180216_200206

  1. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

To ask myself when I’m stressed and at freak out point (so that’s about 23 times a day). Will this matter  in 5 years or even 5 months time? Will I even remember it? And if not to ‘Let it Go! Let it Go!’

  1. What is a book you would say everyone must read?

For all pregnant Mummas I’d say you have to read  Up the Duff: The real guide to pregnancy it is hilarious and full of fun facts by Kaz Cooke

For twin Mummas the incredibly useful book

‘What to do when you’re having two’ by Natalie Diaz

20181031_162139(0).jpg

  1. Does your business have any offers on at present or coming up?

If you subscribe to my Don’t Put Peas Up Your Nose list I’ll be your best friend forever and promise never to share your secret ‘Mum guilts’ with anyone else. Unless you ask me to and then I’ll drink tea and eat chocolate with you till you feel better.

  1. What one thing do you do to change your mindset instantly?

I stop and breathe and think how incredibly blessed I am to have my  three wonderful kids. Unless it’s because of them driving me mad that I need a mindset change, then it’s ‘thank God I’ve got my secret stash of chocolate hidden in the cupboard’.

  1. What do you love most about helping others?

Seeing people smile. That’s why I write my blog to help other twin mums that might feel isolated and alone. If I can help them see that yes it is a really hard job being a twin Mama but it’s also the best club in the world to belong to. And that the funny side is always there, you just have to recognise it. Even if your 3-year-old twin daughter is caught hanging out of her bedroom window instead of napping and you have to call the fire brigade. True story. I can laugh now.

  1. Your favourite quote?

‘Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you’re gonna get’. Forrest Gump And in my case that was after multiple IVF treatments finding out I was having twins! Shocked? I couldn’t speak for about 2 hours and for me that’s saying something.

Thanks Emma for sharing your business and story with us if you would like to see more from Emma please go to Wordwhisperer Website or Her Blog

Stacey Matthews

  1. Please Introduce yourself, what is your name, business name, where you are from?

Hey I’m Stacey I am 28, wife to Dan a lorry driver and mum to 4 beautiful boys, lover of Cake and a good cuppa and a self-confessed journaling addict from Shropshire UK.

And my business is called Becoming Mum.

  1. What is your business about?

Becoming Mum is a platform for mum’s to come together on their own unique motherhood journeys to support encourage and empower each other to recreate and embrace the U in Mum. I use personal development, mindset and positive relationship coaching to help women rediscover who they are again after becoming mum’s.

  1. What made you get into this line of business?

After becoming a mum I felt a huge loss of identity and was completely overwhelmed by everything that comes with being a mum, wife and running a household. I had quit my job to be a stay at home mum and felt like a failure. I knew I wanted to be more than just a mum and this riddled me with guilt because being a mum is the most amazing thing in the world, so why would I need to be anything more?

I delved into the world of personal development and quickly realised that if I wanted things to change in my life, I was the first thing that needed to change and so went through a process of personal growth and development to rediscover who I was behind my mum title. I retrained in personal development and positive relationship coaching and made it my mission to support all of the mum’s out there that are feeling just like I felt and so Becoming Mum was created!

  1. What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

Other than my 4 little sleep stealers hehe, the calling of my kettle…truth be told, I am not really a morning person. my power routine is to just get up as soon as the alarm goes off or the kids come in, get up, put some happy music on, make a coffee and get on with the start of the day don’t snooze the alarm or send the kids back to bed just get up and go!

  1. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

Don’t compare yourself, it’s a pretty simple concept but it’s so important especially on social media  because you only see the highlight reel you don’t see what’s going on behind the camera.

  1. What is a book you would say everyone must read?

Girl wash your face by Rachel Hollis or You are a badass by Jen Sincero both really good inspirational and motivational reads.

  1. Does your business have any offers on at present or coming up?

We have our 21 Day Self Discovery Programme Launched which you can still access and I am set to launch our Group Beyond Mumma Programme for mum’s who are lost and overwhelmed with being just a mum and want rediscover, recreate and reconnect to the women beyond the mumma title.

I also offer personalised 1-2-1 mentoring programmes for women in all stages of motherhood from those thinking of Becoming a Mum but aren’t sure if it’s the right time, to those whose children have left home and they are wondering what now?

  1. What one thing do you do to change your mindset instantly?

I stop, breathe and think of things that I am grateful for in that moment. Gratitude or remembering how blessed I am to be where I am at that time instantly grounds me and gives me the kick up the bum to reframe my thinking.

  1. What do you love most about helping others?

I LOVE seeing women empowered and confident. Knowing that when they connect and nurture the relationship they have with themselves they can build stronger connections and nurture more positive relationships with those they love.

Happy Mums make Happy Children and a Happy Wife is a Happy Life hehe!

  1. Your favourite quote?

Oh gosh there are so many but right now Id say

Not until we are lost, do we begin to understand ourselves by Henry David Thoreau

Thank you so much Stacey for sharing your business and story with us.

Katie Silverthorne

  1. Please Introduce yourself, what is your name, business name, where you are from?

I’m Katie Silverthorne. I was born in London but I now live in Portishead, just outside Bristol – which I ADORE. My business is Memory Zoo.

2.What is your business about?

At Memory Zoo we make keepsakes for people from their precious clothing to help then remember a special person, event or time in their lives.

28059282_10156363073456189_2565814448082662150_n

3. What made you get into this line of business?

I started the business entirely by accident. I made a keepsake bear for my daughter when she was about 1 as I couldn’t bear to put all her beautiful baby clothes into the attic and never see them again. I wanted a more visual reminder of her baby years so used her clothes to make a bear. I put pictures of her bear onto Facebook for my friends to see and very quickly people started asking the question, ‘Can you make me one?’ And Memory Zoo was born.

4.What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

Eggs! I get up and eat three scrambled eggs for breakfast. Everyday without fail. I don’t have a more complex routine than that! Although after I drop my daughter at school I usually go for a run (health permitting) – even just a few km – which really gets my blood moving, brain functioning, stress out of my system and my whole being ready to work. I am a little grumpy if I miss my run!

28958440_10155093420236396_6710800178531532800_n

5. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

I have two things that have always resonated with me. The first is, ‘People massively overestimate what they can achieve in a year but massively underestimate what they can achieve in a decade.’ This helps me to remember that everything doesn’t have to happen right now this minute! And working towards a big goal does take years. There’s no such thing as an overnight success. Everything that we have ever done and every decision we have ever made have led us to this point in time. I aim not to waste a single moment of my life and my learning.
My second one is the acronym – F.A.I.L. – First Attempt In Learning. I LOVE this and hold it dear to me when my crazy ideas don’t work out or take root the first time. I put them down, refresh the vision and try again. Everything is about learning. I aim to be a better person tomorrow than I am today. When I am lying on my death-bed I do not want to look back and think, ‘I wish I had been braver.’

6.What is a book you would say everyone must read?

I have so many books that I love! Can I have more than one please?! ‘Sapiens’ by Yuval Noah Haraji; ‘Real Artists Don’t Starve’ by Jeff Goins and ‘Still Live With Woodpecker’ by Tom Robbins. The last one is one of my favourite books of all time and was given to me by a complete stranger on a train when I was 17. I should also mention ‘Pyramids’ by Terry Pratchett. This was the first book that I actually chose myself (wasn’t told to read by an adult) and I laughed so hard I cried. I realised in the moment of reading it that I would have a life long love affair with books, writing and words.

7.Does your business have any offers on at present or coming up?

I don’t have any offers but I will be releasing some new products very soon so keep your eyes peeled to see what they are. I don’t ever discount my Memory Zoo keepsakes as each one is a bespoke, hand-made item and people have to join a waiting list to get them. The waiting list is currently 7 months long and growing constantly! I do offer a £5 discount though to everyone who orders two animals at the same time. There is also no waiting list if you would like to have something made in honour of someone who has passed away. I understand how instrumental the keepsakes can be for dealing with grief and it’s unrealistic to make people who are suffering emotionally to wait such a long time for their keepsake.

37984088_10156845803466189_6918664952001593344_n

8. What one thing do you do to change your mindset instantly?

RUN! That is my go to. If I can’t do that then I listen to motivating songs, take the dog for a walk, do some jumping jacks or stand in front of the mirror and give myself a motivational speech! Really! 😀 Sometimes I feel that I need to have a gentler word with myself and in those moments I shower myself with loving words. I allow all pain, grief and illness to pass away from me whilst I bask in the feelings of self acceptance and love. I am also deeply keen on personal affirmations.

9. What do you love most about helping others?

It’s such a honour to have been trusted to make so many hundreds of keepsakes over the years for so many people, in many different situations. Many of those people are having a keepsake made because they have lost someone dear to them and the clothes they are giving me are the last reminders of that person. It’s a joy to be able to help people process their grief and loss through my skills.

Danielle Grant

  1. Please Introduce yourself, what is your name, business name, where are you from?

My name is Danielle Grant, my business name is Your Mindset Mentor and I am from Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada

  1. What is your business all about?

My business is all about helping entrepreneurs understand their thoughts, where they are from, how to heal them and how to develop a healthy positive inner dialogue that aligns with their goals and dreams.

  1. What make you get into this line of business?

After years of working on and in my own mindset and working with many entrepreneurs I came to find what was really holding them back from moving forward and it was in alignment with what I was learning personally.

  1. What makes you get up and go in the morning, do you have a morning power routine?

What makes me get up and go in the morning is knowing that when someone plugs into my content, systems, and coaching there lives are changed forever. I do have a morning power routine and it looks something like this…. Drink water, brush teeth with opposite hand, 15 minutes meditation, journal and affirmations, stretch, breakfast.

  1. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

All the support you will ever need is within you. It is up to you to feel it, listen to it, and believe it.

  1. What is a book you would say everyone must read?

The Aladdin Factor by Jack Canfield

  1. Does your business have any offers on at present or coming up?

My signature 6 week UpLevel Program will be opening enrollment in Jan 2019

  1. What one thing do you do to change your mindset instantly?

Journal out what is bothering me so that I can have an inner conversation to work my way through the block.

  1. What do you love most about helping others?

Seeing the change they’ve been working on internally start to be reflected externally.

  1. Your favourite quote?

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson
